Part-time Garment Cutting and Sewing Position 

WORK HOURS: 10 - 15 hrs a week

WORK DAYS: Monday, Tuesday, and sometimes Wednesday

WORK TIME: 10am - 3pm

TRAINING DAYS: Monday and Tuesday 10am - 4pm

STARTING PAY: $16 -$18 an hr depending on experience
TRAINING PAY: $15 and Hr

We are looking for an experienced garment cutter and seamstress/seamster with a calm disposition who has a high attention to detail. You will be cutting and sewing garments using electric rotary sheers and industrial sergers based on customers unique selections.

Job Requirements:

– An understanding of garment construction and pattern drafting is a must. Each garment you cut out will change based on customer request so a working knowledge of garment construction is required. 

– You must have experience working with an industrial serger and sewing knit fabrics. We can not teach you how to sew and require someone with at least 5-10 years of professional sewing experience.

– Our bolts of fabric can weight up to 60 pounds so being able to lift and move around this amount of weight and stand on your feet for around 5 hrs a day is a physical requirement to accomplish the goals of your role as cutter successfully.

- Due to the bespoke nature of what we do it takes a long time to fully assimilate all the knowledge needed for your position. For this reason we are looking for someone who wants to stay with us for a long time. This position is best for those who are looking for at least 5 years of employment.

Gaia Conceptions is a small fashion house that creates organic made to order garment based on customers custom choices. This means what you will be cutting and sewing and the number of garments will be different every week. We work in an open studio environment where each artisan relies on others and they rely on you so strong communication skills and dependability is a must. The studio is a calm and peaceful environment with natural light and windows open whenever temperatures allow. It's a laidback place where we all work hard everyday and enjoy the satisfaction that comes from working as a team.
